It is extremely important for you and your children, family members and friends to show up in support of Renaissance's charter renewal at the public hearing on Tuesday, November 27 at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium. We would love to hear from as many of you as possible during the public speaking part of the hearing, so if you would like to speak, the sign-up for the microphone is at 5:30 PM.

Curriculum Information Posted Thank you to all the parents who came to our Open House and Curriculum Night. If you were not able to make the event, you can find the curriculum and information packets from your child's teachers posted on the Notices and Events page.

2018-2019 Calendars are attached here. Please note that events and dates change frequently, and these paper calendars are not updated as often as the website calendar or the calendar you can find in Pupilpath. Please check those calendars frequently.

The Discipline Policy and Code of Conduct has been updated, and we are awaiting adoption by our Board of Trustees. In the meantime, you will find the proposed policy HERE.

The Family Handbook has also been updated, and includes our new Dress Code Policy, developed in collaboration with our Student Government. You can find it HERE.

Grievance (Complaint) Procedure (Español - Querellas o quejas)

Individuals with grievances should first speak with the staff member directly involved with the situation. If the issue is not resolved after this discussion, the matter should be referred to the cluster leader, or a member of the School Management Team (SMT). If the matter is still not resolved after the SMT member’s intervention, it will be referred to the Principal. In the event that the Principal cannot resolve the situation, the following grievance procedures will be followed:

  • Individuals should address their issue in writing to the Chairperson of the The Board of Trustees (Dr. Monte Joffee at mjjoffee@rencharter.org).

  • Once the committee reviews the issues, the matter will be referred to the appropriate person, cluster or committee for further investigation, mediation, action and/or recommendations. A report will be generated back to the Board’s Grievance Committee for its recommendation to the full Board. The full board will vote on a decision.

  • People who have had their grievances denied by the Board of Trustees will be notified in writing of their right to appeal the decision to the Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education and the New York State Board of Regents.

The Big APIL

The 2018-2019 Annual Parent Information Letter (APIL) can be downloaded from the link below. It has been sent to all parents by email, but if you did not receive it, please call the office at 718-803-0060 to make sure we have your current email address. If you do not have access to email and would like a hard copy, please call the office to request one. You may visit the school Monday-Thursday, 8:00-3:00 during the summer to pick it up.

Important forms are included in the email and below for download. These forms must be filled out and returned on the first day of school. If you do not have a printer at home and need paper copies of the forms, please call the office to request your copy.

This year we will be asking parents to only fill out new forms if any of their information has changed, i.e. phone number, email or mailing address or emergency contact information. We do need a NEW McKinney Vento form, a new bus form if your child needs busing and a new PTA form, every year. This will go out with summer mailing.

  • Your child's assignments and projects along with due dates.

  • Your child's performance in each class including homework, classwork, tests and projects.

  • Progress reports from teachers throughout the school year.

  • Handouts and assignments when your child is absent from school.

  • Your child's transcripts and graduation eligibility status (HS only).

  • School announcements, new calendar listings and upcoming events.

  • And, in some classrooms, your child's attendance.

We hope that by enabling you to see this information on a daily basis we will be able to work together to ensure that our children remain on track in every class. As we work together we will ensure that our students get the most out of their education.

For instructions on registering for Pupil Path click HERE.

On this page you will also find many helpful links and postings that will help you and your child have the best experience possible at Renaissance. We endeavor to keep you informed of everything that goes on in your child's academic career, so please make sure we have your current contact information: phone number, address and email address. You can update your information at any time by downloading the forms from the SCHOOL FORMS link above, or call the office and ask for our pupil personnel secretary.

The green links to the left will give you additional information about how to support your child emotionally, socially and academically and how to support Renaissance with advocacy, talents, money and time. We hope you and your child have the best year ever, and we look forward to seeing you often at school.

While "PupilPath" gives you most of the information you will need to keep up to date with your child's academics, HS teachers are using MyHomework for more timely information. In addition, many elementary teachers maintain their own web-pages for homework and curriculum information, so please ask your child's teacher how best to keep up with your child's homework.
